I cannot discern your tone nor actual question from your words.
You are impressed with the WAP/EDGE access? Or not? I am confused! Some of my confusion stems from the fact that EDGE is a bit slowish, in my opinion, compared to some of the newer tech (HSDPA), so I can't tell if you're happy that it has EDGE at all, or making fun of the lack of newer tech.
Disallowing unsigned code is a HUGE deal for me. I want to be able to download whatever I want and use it. There's a lot of smaller developers that put out good applications.
yeah, I was agreeing that it was awesome, till they dropped the ball on some odd things.
I think it was Cingular that pushed the no unsigned code thing...though it makes Apple's support costs lower too, but the use of EDGE as opposed to ANYTHING less than 5 years old....seems downright dumb. As someone indicated, that might have been their only clear upgrade path to hold onto.
I did not originally comment on the 8525 because I do not own it.
However, based on its specs... /drool
I have yet to be able to actually TRY one, however. I've gone to two Cingular stores to check it out, and neither had a fully working model available to play with.
I've been to a couple store too and have yet to see one in person. I'm afraid what would happen if they were actually there. I bought my Treo on a similar impulse. Bad Jo!
At least I have never been sorry for that purchase. It's a great phone.
I heart the 650. The only thing I am unimpressed by is its slowish internet.
And, after 2 years, the headphone jack is starting to die. (unplug the headset and it still acts like it's got one plugged in.)
So, it's time to upgrade soon. Cingular doesn't have HSDPA in my area yet, and won't for about another three months. So that'll keep me from upgrading for a little bit longer. Hopefully my headphone jack will last that long.
I agree. Internet speeds are frustrating which is my main reason for looking elsewhere.
I bought a bluetooth headset for mine and it works great. If your headphone jack goes out, you could try that?
Mine's been dropped a few times. The case is starting to separate but it still works like there's nothing wrong with it. Good little gadget. *pats treo*
Oh, the problem isn't that the headset doesn't work. It's that when I unplug the headset, I sometimes don't get normal sound from the treo. So I have to jiggle the headset plug in the socket a little bit for it to work properly. I've had it happen to other phones before, so I figure it's just the jack wearing out.
I'm a big fan of protective cases for the treo. They add a bit of bulk, but the phone is in great shape because of it.
